Russia tests new helicopter radars
Piotr Butowski

Two new helicopter radars developed by the Moscow-based Phazotron-NIIR design bureau started flight testing earlier this year.

The first of these is the Alba (export designation Kopyo-A) radar for the Kamov Ka-27M mid-life upgrade (MLU) program. The Alba sensor made its first flight in January aboard a Ka-27LL experimental helicopter, and is designed to be part of an MLU for the Ka-27M anti-submarine warfare (ASW) rotorcraft and its Ka-28 export variant.
