Ok ok, I know we’ve had a multitude of similar topics in the past but I’m curious about a slightly different slant on the question. Recently I read an essay by a scholar of “geopolitics” or “military strategy” (I forget the name but could look it up if anyone’s interested) which implied that there was a difference in CF capability between the two neigbhours, i.e. that China has Conventional Force superiority over Russia. I’m interested to see what you – the forum elite – think about this. I’m deliberatly not putting this into the context of a war between the two nations as that tends to bring in too many factors, namely; geography, current force deployment, preparation time, current deployable force capability/combat readiness, conflict intensity etc. I’m just interested to know whether the Chinese (PRC) have more capable conventional forces. This is made very difficult by how little is known about both nations readiness for combat. For example, while the Russian Navy clearly outstrips the PLAN little is known about the PLA’s capabilities as they haven’t been in a serious conflict for some time and equally little is known about the capability of both the RusAF and the PLAAF. Whaddaya think?
