Russian engines.

How good are they compared to the best from GE, CFM, or RR and P&W?

I know that a lot of them are not terribly fuel effecient, but exactly how do they compare overall? Can anyone give me more info?

Main types I am looking at are Aviadvigatel D-30s and PS-90s, Samara NK-83, Kutznetsov NK-86 etc.

Any info would be appreciated.

Regards, Glenn.

RE: Russian engines.

You can visit this link for more information about the modern russian engines:

http://www.amaholdings.com/tu214/p_plant.html (information about the Tu-214 and PS-90A, NK-93, RB.211 and PW2037).

Kuznetsov NK-86 is a very old engine with high fuel consumption. I have a specification for the Il-86 with this engines and this aircraft has a fuel consumption of 11,3 tons per hour.
