Moscow’s debt to Helsinki, mostly inherited from the Soviet Union, currently amounts to 520 million euros (607 million dollars), according to figures from the Finnish trade and industry ministry.

In the past years, Russia already paid back part of its initial 670 million euro debt with arms procurement, as well as deliveries of scientific equipment and services.
