Russian helicopters for Turkey

MOSCOW – Russia’s head of the general staff and his Turkish
counterpart have discussed a possible 2.5 bln USD contract for the sale of 130 military helicopters to Turkey, ITAR-TASS news agency reported, citing a military source.
The contract was discussed during a meeting between General Anatoli Kvashnin and General Huseyin Kivrikoglu which focussed on military cooperation between the two countries.
The source was cited as saying Russia is in competition with France and the US for the order, but the report did not specify the type of aircraft or the involved companies. Russia stands a chance of winning the contract as its combat helicopters cost only 12 mln usd each, half the cost of those made by the Americans, the source added.
