The Kalinin K-7 was a real Russian Bomber designed in 1933 by WW-I aviator Konstatin Kalinin. The bomber was 91 feet long and had seven 750 HP engines, 6 on the leading edge of the wing and one at the rear of the fuselage. The K-7 had a wingspan of nearly 174 feet and could fly at a maximum speed of 145 miles per hour. The aircraft was also designed for other functions such as transporting VIP, paratrooper and heavy cargo such as tanks. Have a look.

Silly PS-fantasy. The K-7 was a genuine project thou, but not in this shape.
And IIRC Stalin, true to his habbits, rewarded Mr Kalinin for his services to the nation by letting NKVD blow his brains out..

A guess would be that this 3D model depicts a flying battleship, there is no chance of firing those navy guns in the air, but in the sea could be possible. So this would give the battleship/plane advantage over other ships, giving it the chance of quick escape as well as traveling by air from sea to sea(If the wheels retracted and the plane would transform into a sea plane). Other than that you are right this is far from the real thing, but still a mind boggling project.

Very entertaining! Good spoof, aviationCV. The battleship turrets visible as an ‘optional weapons fit’ in your link are truly a triumph of fantasy over reality.

The Kalinin K-7 was indeed an authentic design of the early ’30s. This absurd monstrosity, on the other hand, has nothing whatsoever to do with the K-7. This “fanciful” 3D model has been seen across the web masquerading as almost anything, really, and I can only presume that we are meant to think (somehow) that this is an aeroplane…. errr… No.
