A Mil Mi-171A helicopter recently christened “Baikal” has just been reassembled in Rio de Janeiro after delivery from Russia in order to take part in the LAAD/Helitech 2005 Air Show. The local representaive expects to certify this version in Brazil and through the current arangements between the Brazilian Certifying Authority (CTA) and US (FAA) and European (EASA) authorities clear this model for commercial operations quicker and cheaper than by going direct to these agencies. After the fair this helicopter will be demontrated to the Brazilian Federal Police, Air Force, Army and Navy in the Amazon region.
