Russian plane down!

A Siberian Airlines TU 154 plane crashed in the Black Sea killink all 66 passengers and 11 crew. Lots of reasons are floating around….some say act of terrorism as the plane took of from Israel. But the latest is that a surface to air missile of the Ukrainean Armed Forces accidently hit the plane while they were conducting some exercises. This was said by an un-named pentagon official. But Mr. Putin said it is an act of terrorisam. Actually i am also little doubtful that a missile brought the plane down. What are your views?

regards

here is the news:

They are also pointing at the TU 154s safety record….?

RE: Russian plane down!

thats a very one sided view keltic. yes these accidents happen, but there are procedures in place- as i’m sure you are aware to make the range safe and to inform all likely air corridor users of such tests. Why was the airliner flying over a live firing weapons range??? as it would appear-if it was shot down by a launched missile? there are radio frequencies for range controllers and airspace users to use so that they can be conflicted accordingly- it begs the question, who messed up the most here? yes it is very sad that this has happenned, but we dont know all the parameteres, so to say that clear cut, it was the ukranian navies fault, none others, is wrong in this instance right now, it may turn out that it was an authorised weapons systems check that malfunctioned, it may be that the TU154 strayed into restricted and controlled airspace without knowing what was happenning, and provided a better target for the missile, than the practice target. Without having the range controllers frequency- the range controller could not tell them otherwise, so they were blind to the threat- they do not have radar warning receivers in airliners do they???? it could be that the crosswinds were stronger than expected and they flew, without knowing, into the restricted airspace, which is always in operation for live firing excercises, it could be that air traffic control did not inform the tu154 pilot that that particular area of controlled airspace was in use at the time-as they should do.

RE: Russian plane down!

That was the Ustica case, Kabir. A Lybian fighter jet was in the same air space (not knowing his real intentions) they shot. The Iran Air A300 was a deliverate shoot, well they didn´t know that it was a regular flight but shot directly. I was mentioning “lost missiles” and other shooting. If we include all cases….we have to speake about Kal 747 over Russia, and all planes shot down by different guerillas in the different third world countries the list is endless. Militars should keep their toy away from civil aviation. Too many inocent people have died.

…and the USS Vinncennes’ shooting down of an Iranian Airbus A300 over the gulf in 1988.

RE: Russian plane down!

The Ukranian navy has just confirmed to have shoot the plane down incidentally. It was like a Kurks affair. This bring to my mind the Ustica case, long ago when an Italian plane was shot down by friendly fire. The militar stuff is always too intrusive and arrogant with civil aviation. Most third world countries, many civil airports share the place with the militars, causing misses and lots of incidents. Is it so difficult having the manuvers away from the air corridors?. This is a really stupid way to die. It´s enough the planes crashed, be hijacked, or smashed against buildings…now we have to take cara about missiles…..distressing.
