Russia freezes CFE-related data provision, yet open to dialogue-1

MOSCOW, July 14 (RIA Novosti) – Russia will freeze data provision and inspections as part of the Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) Treaty, but will be open to further dialogue, the country’s Foreign Ministry said Saturday.

The statement followed a moratorium on honoring the CFE treaty decreed Saturday by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Russia will consider the international agreements frozen 150 days after all participants in the CFE treaty have received notices from the country.

“Upon President Putin’s instructions the Russian Foreign Ministry will circulate relevant notices July 14, 2007,” the body said in a statement.

Among other things, Russia will not comply with any conventional arms limits, the Foreign Ministry said, however, the amount of Russian weapons will depend on the situation in the military and political spheres.

Ultra-nationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky, a deputy speaker of the lower house of Russia’s parliament, proposed Saturday that the State Duma hold an emergency session to adopt a draft law on freezing the CFE treaty.

Russia considers the 1990 CFE treaty outdated since it does not reflect either the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact or the breakup of the Soviet Union. Unlike NATO, the country also signed an upgraded CFE treaty in 1999.

“Continue”? The ONE they’ve bought in the last ten years was put together out of parts laying around the factory as I recall. Do you have any evidence that suggests they’ve restarted production?

Those 30 or so Production was based on Old doctorine. Now new doctoring from 2010-2020 is going to be implemented and Strategic bomber is of critical importance.

Sweet! I’d love to see Russia spend itself into oblivion again.

It was West that went bankrupt but saved by Asian/OPec surpluses/Outsourcing and it is true even today. Russia have now built unique economic/political systems with new doctorines. Even Eastern EU realizes that economicy dependencies because they depended on bigger EU countries and bigger EU countries inturn depend on Russia. So Russia can continue to deliver Practical threats but otherside cannot.

LOL. Whoops. Okay, but all that article says that they’ll complete “several more”. And they’ve only got 16 anyway. That’s even fewer than the number of B-2s flying.

What are you smoking?

That production run will be to 30 machines – 1 machine every 18 months.

Are you reading anything?

“Russia plans to upgrade the existing fleet and build at least one new bomber every one-two years to increase the number of available aircraft to 30 in the near future.”

Yeah well, with 141 Tu22M3’s and 40 odd Tu-95’s, they arent exactly short of bombers. 😉

Whats more important is to upgrade a bunch of these to current gen standards in avionics & keep flight hours to par.

Well may be you are out of touch then , it does fly regularly on long range patrol and in one of the recent patrol it is claimed to have penetrated NATO Air Defence Network undetected , which lead to NATO doing some internal inquiry or something like that.

Yeah, I’ve heard people “claim’ they have flying saucers out at Area 51.

Talking about hanger , what kind of controlled environment does B-2 needs during rest 😉

Next you’ll be telling us it’s bearings are inferior because they need to be lubed? (Of course at $2 billion a pop I wouldn’t want even a fly to $hit on it either. :D)

At least it’s not a hanger queen that only gets rolled out when Putin wants to go flying. :diablo:

Who needs a billion dollar beauty , which is suppose to be stealthy , but apparently needs jammers for company even in a low to medium threat environment 😉

No there are other footage , that it was indeed dropped from Tu-160 , there was no cargo dropped as claimed

Where is the other footage? Because THIS footage clearly shows the bomb pullled BACK out of the cargo compartment.

Youtube video showing a thermobaric Fuel-Air-Explosive bomb dropped from a Tu-160 bomber.

The bomb was shoved out the back of a cargo aircraft. The Blackjack is stock footage.

If they’re smart then they begin with the T-60S design from Sukhoi. Expand it and give it new, more fuel efficient engines to increase range to intercontinental levels, and you’ve got a pretty good platform able to deal with the next 20-30 years or so.

A little google shows that there is a PAK-DA project from Tupolev , sukhoi T60S which is based on T-160.

Most likely this looks like Tu-22M3 replacement , from all accounts the Tu-95MS will serve till 2050 and Tu-160 till atleast 2030

Tupolev seems to have the experience and most likely the political and airforce support for this , as that happens to be their primary task which is developing bombers.

Sukhoi hands are already full with PAK-FA , Civil Aircraft and Su-35BM , if they manage to execute the above project it well that would impressive and job done by them

I am expecting big accleration in weopons purchase with doctorine of premption from 2010-2020. Russia dont have burden of Soviet empire so more money and manpower is available for high tech work rather than controlling others.
