Russians buzz US carriers.

I got an e-mail from a friend yesterday saying that two Su-24MRs had buzzed the USS Kitty Hawke buy getting under its radar net and scooped pretty pictures of its deck and defense systems. I laughed and told him to p*ss off just as anyone else might have.

You can then imagine my shock, surprise and God knows what else when I saw a report in the London Times to the same effect! In fact the Times says that this has happened twice (Ocrtober 17th and November 9th).

The Yanks are claiming that the Russian aircraft were escorted by US fighters and that they knew about them all the time while the Russkies say that they took the Kitty Hawke totally by surprise. And that the fencers were escorted by Su-27s.

Does anyone else know anything about this (SOC you in particular, I know you serve in the USAF but this thing must get around if the Times is reporting it), who are we to beleive?
