Ryanair announce 4 new routes from London and increased frequency!

Ryanair have today announced the following new routes and increase in frequency

New Routes from London Stansted:

Wroclaw, Poland – Daily (Starts 24th March 05)
Brno, Czech Republic – Daily (Starts 24th March 05)
Granada, Spain – Daily (Starts 7th Feb 05)

New Route from London Gatwick:

Knock, Ireland – Daily (Starts 19th Jan 05)

Increase in frequency:

London Stansted to Cork (3 times to 4 times Daily from 19th Jan 05)
London Stansted to Shannon (2 times to 3 times Daily from 19th Jan 05 then to 4 times Daily from 24th March 05)

Nimes, France will receive 2 daily flights from London from 24th March 05. It will add a new summer daily service from Stansted to complement the daily service from Luton.

——–

Im sure the increase in routes and frequency to Ireland is to add competition to the new services from LGW – Ireland with easyJet. Im surprised the Shannon service is being increased from Stansted as FR used to operate a 4x Daily service from STN but reduced it to 2x Daily due to high landing charges at SNN??

Nice to also see some new routes from Stansted including some expansion into Eastern Europe.

Gerona – is that the Italian one, because Barcelona one Gir/Gerona is served daily with B738, and Milan Bergamo and Rome Ciampino are already slated for Feb.

Charleroi was served for about 18 months up until last January time at which point they switched to Barcelona for the summer, but vowed it would return.

Either way theres going to need to have some more concrete layed. Summer at present would look something like 8x EZY nightstoppers, 1x VLM F50, at least 2x FlyJem ATPs (eventually), 1x BAL B752, 1x MON A320, 1x AAG L188 = 14 Aircraft, plus Emerald 748s, numbers of which vary and the nightly mail operation utilising Emerald 748s plus Aurigny ATR and 2x Channex F27 gives in the region of 20 stands required already. Around a third of these are remote anyway at present.

Air Wales, Aer Lingus, FlyBe and Wizz do/will not have any nightstopping aircraft, but once Ryanair get started things could get interesting if they expand at there usual phenominal rate! 4 aircraft to start with?

I have heard the large long-stay car park which has been open a year or so may be the next apron, not specified what for (Cargo or as a pax satellite?), but the airport only tarmaced it to earn some money this year rather than owning more grass! Other mootings indicate a terminal over by the tower – who knows!

STN-LPL would be a winner. The VLM to the city has been a resounding success, and the local Liverpool rag have now started another campaign to try and get a LHR link re-instated. LPL-STN would certainly be of use to me, rather than the slog upto BLK!

So would Blackpool-STN continue if there was a LPL-STN service?

In my view possible LPL routes would be

Lubeck
Nidderhein
Hahn
Charleroi
Beauvis
Skavasta
Torp
Pisa
Turin
Murcia
Treviso
Gerona (if not already served)
Ciampano (if not already served)
Bergamo (if not already served)

If Ryanair do announce LPL-STN Eastern Airways will drop the MAN-STN faster than you could say Boeing 747!

Doubt it, Eastern appeal to the businessman far more than Ryanair, and can you see business men who normally fly from MAN going over to LPL?

I think they will stay just the way they are.

Things are getting very very interesting. This is the best show on earth.I think easy could make a good go at some international routes from Dublin but Ryanair seem to be consideably cheaper so I dont think well get them here.
Ive always wanted to see Easyjet planes in Dublin. They are here for maintence and 1 stored with engines and titles removed.
I can imagine what ryanair pilot who taxi near the stored 733 would say ”ladies and gentlemen if you look to your right youll see what weve done to our competitors”
It would also be intersting to see Air Berlin in Dublin.
