RYANAIR EXPANDS TO 27 ROUTES FROM FRANKFURT HAHN
4 NEW ROUTES TO PORTUGAL – POLAND – SLOVAKIA
Ryanair, Europe’s No.1 low fares airline, today (19th April 2005) announced a major expansion at its Frankfurt Hahn base with 4 new European routes to Bratislava (Slovakia), Porto (Portugal), Gdansk & Rzeszow (Poland).
Announcing the new routes, Sean Coyle Director of Scheduled Revenue said:
“We opened our 1st German base in Frankfurt Hahn in February 2002 and today we are increasing this base with new routes to Gdansk and Rzeszow in Poland, Oporto in Portugal and for the first ever time to Bratislava in Slovakia. Ryanair will carry in excess of 3M passengers through Frankfurt Hahn in 2005 – saving €300M over the high fares charged by Lufthansa.
“These fantastic new destinations are on sale right now at http://www.ryanair.com from €2.99*. We would urge passengers wishing to grab a bargain to these great new destinations to book now, as demand will be huge!”

Here we go again. I ll say it one more time for those of woh who find it hard to understande. If you dont want to fly to a Ryanair destination then go and pay the extra money but aboive all dont complain.
Can i just mention here that yes we as aviation “buffs” realise ryanair fly to airports which are maybe lacking in proximity to the main cities (e.g. Frankfurt Hahn) and we know this before travelling.
2 guys in my work are planning a trip around Europe and they were about to book with Ryanair thinking the airport was very close to the city when its 100km+ away! They were lucky to have spoken to me as their next flight would go from the main airport and they only had 3 hours between flights. These are very bright guys but they werent aware of ryanair flying to airports far away.
thats my 2 cents…

Southwest does the same thing in the US. For example, they market Providence and Manchester as Boston. They advertise on TV in Boston all the time, even though both airports are an hour away. Because I live downtown in Boston, Southwest is not an option, but for the greater metropolitan area, it certainly is. I am certain that’s what Ryan is doing in Brussels, Frankfurt, and elsewhere. Hey it works for Southwest! I just wish they would come to Logan!

I don’t mean to laugh too hysterically here, but I think you are a bit TOO hypersensitive about comments regarding Ryanair. Did I ever state that I did/did not choose to fly Ryanair for this or any other reason?? Did I complain about the location of its destinations?? NO, I didn’t do either, so take a chill pill m8!
I actually think my comment hit the nail on the head to be honest. Ryanair are good at what they do, that is providing generally low cost flights, even if that is flying people to the middle of nowhere.

Great news for HHN, still surprised their hasnt been an announcement for more routes out of SNN, with NCL-SNN apparantly been advertised in the local paper.
I think its only a matter of time before these routes are operated from STN.

Im surprised Ryanair is starting to fly to Gdansk. I remember reading an article which had Michael O’Leary saying “Who wants to fly to Gdansk? Theres nothing there!” I wonder what made him change his mind? 🙂
Somebody probably pointed out to him after that statement that there is nothing at any Ryanair destination (except a long bus journey to that ‘nearby’ city), which probably pursuaded him to operate it 😉 :diablo: .
