Ryanair Fined £6.7m For Labour Law Breach

Ryanair has been ordered to pay fines and damages totalling £6.7m by a French court for violating the country’s labour laws.

Ryanair, which had said it would likely appeal any decision that went against it in the case, said it had believed it was operating there under Irish law.

Are they [Ryanair] being serious; this has to be the most stupidist excuse that Ryanair could come up with? They chose to set-up a facility in a foreign country and didn’t think/know that that particular country’s labour laws would apply when it comes to employing people and allowing them to be apart of a union…d’oh.

Well done to the French for standing up to them, hopefully this will set a precendence for other countries because I’m sure if they [Ryanair] thought that they were operating under Irish law in France, how many other countries do they do/try this in?
