Absolutely. There are many charters also operating solely international flights from GLA. MOL is a thorn in the side of UK aviation.

Here’s a good one… Michael O’ Leary wants to rename GLA as “Glasgow Domestic” and call Prestwick “Glasgow International ” as he reckons he offers more international flights from there than are available from GLA.
Someone should remind him that regular US, Canada and European flights do not make an airport domestic. He’s off to the OFT about this apparently .
If he’s into renaming airports then I’d suggest “Glasgow- Doon the Watter” for Prestwick or “Glasgow-Only Ten Mins to the City Centre” for GLA.
What a feckin eejit ! 😀

[i]…they make just as good pilots as the next man…[/B]
Agreed but unfortunately most of them are very lacking in their understanding of the English language. Having previously been a regular operator into and ex STN there were many problems with these guys using abnormal amounts of airtime to understand basic clearances and then still do wild and unpredictable things. A friend of mine was until recently a controller at STN (he’s at LHR now) and it used to drive him up the wall. IMO, Ryanair have the perfect safety record…just like the Titanic did the day before it sank!

No stigma there I hope? Indeed there are a few Eastern European pilots who fly for Ryanair, but there seem to be more Spanish than anything other than the usual Brits. But they make just as good pilots as the next man.

They should go to eastern Europe. After all, it’s where a very significant proportion of their pilots originate from…and I’m not joking.

It will occur around next year into early 2005 when the EU expands as new countries in Eastern Europe become member states. Obviously there is huge expansion potentials in this area so I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone like Ryanair flying to a place like Estonia or Croatia etc in the future.

I heard rumors of Ryanair wanting to fly to Debrecen, Hungary and Vilnius, Lithuania but that was a month or so ago – maybe a possibility for the future?
