Left the house at 7:45am heading from Halifax over to LBA, due to traffic etc thought it would be better to be early.

Arrived at LBA at 9:00am, it was only a 17 miles drive, but Monday morning traffic was as expected.

As we were only going for the day, we took advantage of the Check & Go service, great product, no queues apart from 5 Min’s at security.

Entered the Departure lounge, its been about 4 years since i have been at LBA, nothing as really changed, looks pretty dated now and lacks shops, (i normally fly MAN)

Anyway.. went to WH Smiths got a paper and a drink, sat down in front of one of the LCD TV’s and relaxed while chatting with friends, in total there was 4 of us that went, (My mate and his Girlfriend who also took advantage of the cheap offer)

Boarding was called, headed up to Gate 5 A, non eventful, front of the priority queue. Was stood around for about 5 Min’s before the friendly RyanAir cabin crew came over to greet us.
Within about 2-3 Min’s, RyanAir cabin crew called us froward, did the usual checks and we was then forwarded out the door for the short walk over to the RyanAir standard “clone” 737-800.

As we was the front of the queue, no really rush, just headed for the rear door to ensure we could get the seats I (we) wanted.

Headed down to row 24- D-E-F and the other couple with us went into 24 A-B-C

The flight was about 80% full, but “planned” conversation between me and my mate over in 24 – A discouraged anyone seating in the spare seats.. (I’m not one of those who will seat in the aisles seat waiting to be “asked” to move over, but i find sparking a conversation with someone across from you helps people to decide not to sit next to you when you know its not going to be full!) 😀

Anyway.. all boarded and ready to roll back, roiled back 5 Min’s before Departure time and taxied into position.
It was an uneventful take off using most of the tarmac, once we was off the tarmac when climbed for about 8-10 Min’s up to a steady 19,000ft seeing a ‘nice’ view of Leeds until we hit the cloud cover.

Once cruising, the Cabin Crew rushed around selling the usual, and then advised us of the raffle, with a star prize of a few return flight. The Guys about 5 rows in front won it, to be honest i think he was the only person that got a raffle ticket.

After getting a few photos and having a chat with my mate we was ready to descend for landing..

I managed to get a few photos once the cloud cover broke, (see below) and 2 short video clips of us coming into land with the normal RyanAir, “Put it down on the tarmac style!!”

Uneventful really, Then add the 10 min walk from Dublin Gate A67 to the exit.

For anyone thats thinking of going, a taxi from DUB to the center of Dublin, (temple bar area) is 30 Euros, you can get the bus at a cost of 7-9 euros each, as there was 4 of us it was worth the taxi ride.

Had a pretty good day in Dublin doing all the “tourist things”, went to the Guinness Museum, trip on a open top bus, few beers in Temple Bar area, bit of food, bit of window shopping and finally went to Hard Rock café for a few more deserved beers 🙂

At around 7pm we jumped into a taxi and headed off back to the airport, taxi was a bit cheaper at 23 Euros.

RETURN LEG

Arrived at DUB at around 19:30.. for our 21:10 return flight, (early i know, better safe than sorry!)
Went straight to security (Check & Go) took around 15 Min’s to get through security due to the volume of people.

Once security was cleared, i was surprised with the quality of DUB airport, seems to look pretty good, small decent sections of shops offer a decent range of products. Had a look around as you do,

Then decided to head over to the gate, A67. Set off down the tunnel, about a 10 minute walk.. relaxed down in the café area about 3/4’s of the way to the A60-71 gates.

At around 20:15, we headed down to our gate. got to the front of the queue at the gate, we was then advised that the gate had been changed from A67 to A66.. i then informed about 50-70 PAX and a riot erupted fighting there way over to the gate. (what had i done!!)

Gate A66 had around 200 PAX for a Glasgow flight present so it was a bit messy with the amount of PAX.

After about 20 Min’s one of the gate staff advised the Glasgow PAX that they had been delayed and to moved over to A70, this in turn created a fight of pushing etc etc..

We then headed over to the front of the Priority queue, where we was greeted by RyanAir, checked the boarding cards and off we went into the fresh air to walk to the 737-800. EI-DCI

Entered via the rear doors once again and took a seat in the same rows. 24- D-E-F and the other couple with us went into 24 A-B-C.

We was due out at 21:10, but didn’t get pushed back until 21:20, headed down the taxi way for what seemed like ages, queued up to wait for a TNT cargo to leave, (didn’t see much of it as i was sat on the opposite side, then waited for an Air Lingers to touch down.

At around 21:33 just was set at the end of the run way waiting to leave.. a minute of so pasted and we was on our way home……

Climbed for about 8 Min’s and the captain came over the radio, advised that as we had been delayed we was able to make up time and arrived as planned…

Once we had finished our climb, 8-10 Min’s, we cruised for about 10 Min’s before the seat belt lights came on and the pilot hd advised we have made up so great time and we will be starting our descend shortly…

Touched down in LBA at 22:03.. I looked at my watch and thought someone has be making up for lost time BIG TIME!!

it took us just under 30 Min’s tarmac to tarmac to complete the flight.. taking into account it was an estimated 55 Min’s from the booking details i was more than impressed….

We arrived at the gate at 22:05 as expected… don’t get me wrong.. time can be made up when you have a 3-4 hour flight… but to gain an extra Min’s on a 50 min flight is impressive… I hate to think the route he took, and looking out the window and seeing us fly over MAN i knew we had taken the straight line route home!!

Touched down in LBA, got on the bus to the gate and off we walked out picking up the car from the short stay car park.

Overall, a great day out with no hassle from Ryan Air. Its been the 5th & 6th Flight i have had with Ryan air and once again, to clock work.

Below i have attached a few photos and 2 short video clips landing in DUB,, nothing special really, i took my Ricoh Capilo R5 (7.0 MP, 7.1 Optical,) all photos just in Auto and in a form of shoot and snap!..

Hope you enjoyed this report.. (i have not had chance to read it back so i hope it made sense!!)

Cheers

Rick

Excellent report and photos.

The flight time you experienced on the way back is perfectly normal, Ryanair ‘pad’ the scheduled for entirely this reason, so you can depart late and arrive on time.
