Ryanair news

Ryanair are to start flights between Bournemouth and Barcelona Girona on October the 26th. The airline aims to have 100,000 passengers on the route in the first year.

Spain has been Ryanair’s biggest growth market this year and this new destination from Bournemouth brings the list up to four destinations from Ryanair to Frankfurt/Hahn, Dublin, Barcelona/Girona and Glasgow Prestwick.

Ryanair also announced that they will be doubling the frequency of their Bournemouth-Glasgow Prestwick route from one to two flights a day from the 16th of October.

However, it isn’t all good news for Bournemouth as the Barcelona route will be replacing it’s current once daily service to Frankfurt/Hahn.

Ryanair have also announced that they are to start flights between Glasgow Prestwick and Gothenburg. The airline claims that it is under cutting SAS’s ticket cost between Glasgow and Gothenburg by 90%.

Ryanair will be placing two further 737-800 aircraft at Prestwick this winter to increase capacity at the airport.

Frankfurt/Hahn is also included in the expansion with a new route to Venice-Treviso. These new routes bring Ryanair’s total up to 127.

This is good news for Bournemouth and might be something to do with flybe’s proposal to fly from Southampton to Barcelona. I wouldn’t be suprised if Bournemouth were to become Ryanair’s third British base.
