Ryanair threatening legal action against AviationHerald

I don’t know how many of you on here use the aviation herald for incident/accident news – but I find it an invaluable source.
http://avherald.com/

Unlike other media outlets, the AH always get their facts right on aviation issues! :p

Recently Ryanair has had a string of incidents and reports show up on the homepage of the site – from pilots taking off without take off clearance to pilots descending below safe minimum altitudes.

However, this sudden flurry of reports has led some readers to leave inflammatory remarks about Ryanair on the articles.

It would appear someone at Ryanair with way too much time on their hands has obviously stumbled across these articles (it wouldn’t surprise me if it was MoL himself) and has requested the remarks are removed as they are damaging to Ryanair’s “outstanding safety record” and “Ryanair’s good name and reputation for safety and may have damaging consequences for bookings.”

I personally think Ryanair’s being pathetic. AvHerald is a small scale site read by enthusiasts and industry professionals who know better than to judge a company by a reader’s comment.
I do wonder why Ryanair’s wasting their time on such a trivial issue, when the Daily Mail (surely a far more influential media outlet) has hundreds of inflammatory comments on one of this weeks stories. Just my 2 cents.

Forgive my ignorance but could someone please explain this report?

I have no time for MoL and his ‘airline’ but it has to be said, that their safety record thus far, is good. However, this could be more more by luck than judgement. During my time on the ramp at Stansted, it was sometimes astonishing to see the speed at which some of the RYR aircraft taxied, particularly as they entered the ‘cul-sacs’ adjacent to the satellites. On one occasion, whilst I was despatching an Austrian aircraft, the Capt watched in disbelief, at the speed at which an RYR aircraft was taxying. He made a comment, which for the sake of common decency, and avoiding a law suit, I will not repeat here.

I agree, I think the ‘so-called’ low cost carriers are a joke!

The LoCos always brag on about how cheap the fares are if you book early… I’m flying to Geneva next summer, the flight is 8 months away and BA, from LHR, was more than £20 cheaper (return) than easyJet from LGW!

I’m sure Mick is secretly loving this story. It will allow him to comment about it in the media and quote ‘Ryanair, the low fares airline’ at the start of every sentence he says. That quote of his does make me laugh. Last night I looked at booking flights from the north west to one of three airports in Andalucia. Ryanair were more expensive than all other LoCos and all but one charter airlines. Even two legacy airlines via Heathrow were cheaper.

Change the record Mick.
