Ryanair throw off passenger

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7270047.stm

Well what did he expect? As ex CC myself I have to say well done to Ryanair. If he was leaning across the aisle and talking he was blocking other passengers view of the safety demo and preventing others from hearing it.
Sadly it happens too often that you have to stop the demo just to have words with someone.

Maybe the guy was a little bit rude. However based on my experience , FR doesn’t bother to make Safety announcement in other languages than english.

So you said safety ……… ? Makes me laugh.

For information the title Doctor in Italy does not only signify medical or post-doctorate qualifications. The title doctor is used by anyone who has a degree, mostly in humanistic studies.

So you could find that someone who calls himself Doctor has a very ordinary degree in an very ordinary subject. The guy who sold me my latest car is a ‘Doctor’.. Read in to that what you will.

A PhD actually, and you can buy some of those in USA.
Ryannair are correct.
The safety briefings are Federal Avaiation law too, (That they must be given).
And of course the courtesy issue.

I don’t particularly care for Ryanair, but in this case….they have climbed in my estimation.

‘Morning all.
I never listen to the safety briefings.
But then again, I never talk during them, as others are listening.
And I am sure the CC were nothing but polite and courteous themselves at all times.

Nobody, particularly Tommy, seems to have mentioned common courtesy.Of course it is a pain having to stop talking to your companion every time the crew make announcements about duty free sales etc or the flight crew provide information on progress or,in this case,an important safety announcement but it is bang out of order to carry on talking when others want to listen and one certainly wouldn’t do it in a cinema or theatre……or maybe these days some would!About 80% of passengers are as rude as this man and it’s great he got his come-uppance.

Im surprised Ryanair don’t have a “being asked to leave the plane” fee they made this idiot pay 😀

Good on them Ryanair, the safety demonstration is a legal requirement. It is up to people if they listen or not, but if they don’t they should hinder other peoples choices.

Of all the accusations against Ryanair, I think this is probably the most pathetic. I think it also shows that Ryanair cabin crew do like to take safety more seriously than programmes such as ‘Dispatches’ seemed to suggest.

What gives this man the right to interrupt a safety demo? Maybe he considered himself a frequent flyer and therefore didn’t think he had to pay it his full attention. However, how could he be so sure that no-one sat near to him was a first-time, or a nervous flyer? If there happened to be a first time flyer sat near to him unable to listen properly, then it could have lead to quite serious consequences in terms of safety for that person if anything had happened.

Oh and of course he’s gonna use the word ‘rudely’, he’s trying to save himself from embarassment when his friends/colleagues etc read this article.

Still interrupting a vital part of the flight – for example, my flight to Glasgow and back last week was my first ever flight on a commercial aircraft, and although i’ve flown about twelve times before, I was, for some reason, absolutely bricking it on the first flight, and was listening to every syllable the cabin crew said – some idiot jabbering away during it wouldn’t have helped!

All he was doing was talking tho, he wasn’t threatning anyone.

Yes, but during a saftey demonstation, when everybody else should be listening? Everybody should devote their full attention to it always!

I think this is an awful way to treat a passenger.

No its not! He was disrupting a critical element of the journey. His statements on the BBC Site are pathetic, and he is trying to act like he’s the king of the castle, which he is certainly is not!

Watching his reaction and tone of voice on the video, really has infurriated me. His attitude is typical of many who want to be regarded as very important. Why do titles such as “Dr” make some, not all think they are better than others.

Ryanair, don’t apologise, let this apparent “VIP” say sorry to you!

Of course I wasn’t on the mentioned flight but from information provided, I believe Ryanair did the correct thing.
Many times have I seen passengers not give the safety demonstration their full attention, and it is great to see the cabin crew taking the necessary action.

Good on you Ryanair.

Serves him right for being chucked off if you ask me.

MOD EDIT: I’ve deleted the posting that you referred to, Rlangham, so your second sentence wouldn’t have made any sense to a newcomer to the thread.

Cheers

Oh, and tommy, why? Just, why?

My thoughts exactly, Elgan.

Which is why I deleted the comment.

Tommy – use the forums sensibly, or don’t use them at all.

Your choice, fella. I’m as happy either way.

I don’t think throwing him off was the best option, but the saftey demonstration is there for a reason, and if you don’t want to listen to it, then don’t interrup it!

The crew had a perfect right to tell him to shut up, and the “Doctor” didn’t help the situation by commenting in such a way that he has made the situation himself. Arrogant is a word that comes to mind!
