Ryanair to replace toilets with seats

The Guardian is reporting that O’Leary has asked Boeing “to look at putting credit card readers on toilet locks for new aircraft.” He also wants to remove two of the three bathrooms on his airline’s aircraft and replace those bathrooms with up to six seats.

Here it is, straight from the horse’s mouth: “We are flying aircraft on an average flight time of one hour around Europe. What the hell do we need three toilets for? … It’s not because we need to generate money from the jacks. But … if you get rid of two [toilets] you can get six seats on a 737. They will all be scurrying to the toilet before the departure gate.”

Dont forget about the credit card handling fee as well !

What does ryanair charge for mastercard payment now, its true what mastercard says “for everything else in life theres mastercard” – even for spending a penny, well more like several hundred

It’s “Stools” now !!!

http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/article.aspx?cp-documentid=148386770

According to the above he is really in to “STOOLS” – the seating kind and as we already know the chargeable faecal kind (toilet mania).

Please see my post URL below as I think he is either being badly misquoted or is in steady decline due to badly degenerating neurones.

It’s OK, Allen. Have a good rant and get it out of your cistern.

It would bring a whole new meaning to the term “bog-standard service”.

You’d need to be pretty flush to do that…

Hmm. If they charge extra money for going to the toilet, maybe there would be money in replacing seats with toilets? 😀

A laugh a minute that would be – everyone sitting on a seat-toilet.

What a noise for neighbours to endure.

And can you imagine any ensuing ‘pongs’.

I like your ‘tongue in cheek’ humour and maybe RyanAir will soon forget the whole silly idea.

They are not going to do it.

It’s all about making you look one way when they are doing something they would rather you didn’t know about until it’s too late.

Oh! You old cynic, you! 😎

The economic recession will see the transition of passengers back to the regular airlines and although they may shed some jobs to survive they will mostly be still there when the economic recession ends.
“No frills”/”Budget” carriers have to some extent had their day.
It may have served a purpose to shake some life into the regular airlines in efficient seat sales/management, but I would anyday fly regular airline for many reasons already stated.

At Liverpool Airport the other day somebody stated that his company now uses Air Lingus from Manchester for any flights to Dublin/Ireland as they now find with Ryanair adding all the extra’s on to their fares it is now cheaper for them to use Air Lingus ???:eek:

I wonder if the usual smoke and mirrors stuff was to hide the fact that he had sold five million of his shares in Ryanair? Did we miss this or has it been discussed already?

http://www.businessworld.ie/livenews.htm?a=2427399

You may be getting closer to the real reason behind this nonsense.
Keep watching the interim financial reports, as well as check out the last two years full financial reports as unfortunately it can take a few years in a large organisation for the real lack of “Cash Flow” to manifest itself to the outside world. (As clearly seen in recent financial scandals of large banks/building societies)

Even if he manages to get Boeing to alter or manufacture a variant with necessary safety clearance on a new seat configuration (with one ‘loo’) these aircraft will not be as desirable aircraft (as Tangible Assets in his ‘books’) due to lowered resaleability.

He is on a ‘hiding to nothing’.

It´s hard for us, since it´s one of the main operators in our place. I tried to be sympathetic with them, but enough is enough. 😡

Easy to make him change his absurd plans. Avoid booking Ryanair.

I find a miserable move.

I second this. Un booked seats make the Euros dip and that gets soon noticed.

I never do fly Ryanair anyway as usually they fly to way out airports in Europe and the cost of travelling in to the main city outweighs any saving made in flight costs and is a nuisance in time.

Maybe they will sell passengers that cannot wait leg bags and adult ‘nappies’ if the flight is delayed while in the air, and the only toilet on board ends up with a queue outside it, and additionally charge for garbage bags to place the ‘mess’ in and of course disposal of the bag (after customs clearance) will be the passenger’s responsibility or alternatively they could pay an additional fee to have the garbage disposed of by Ryanair.

The nonsense never ceases.

FR is now on my “to-be-avoided” list.

I only book them if I have no other option.
