Ryanair has backed down from its policy of being Europe’s meanest airline when it comes to cabin baggage.
The airline has increased the carry-on luggage allowance from just 7 kilos to 10 kilo with immediate effect.
The current hold baggage maximum allowance of 15 kilos per passenger remains unchanged and is the least offered by any European airline.
Never an airline to give anything away if it can help it Ryanair’s excess luggage charge has gone up 12.5% to £4.50/E7 per kilo.

If they reduce that factor in their turnaround time, maybe they can then push their pilots to rush the walkaround and pre-flight checks/setup even more. Brilliant!

Many IT carriers(eg Thomson/First Choice etc) allow only 5kg of cabin baggage.

Whats wrong with wanting to reduce turnaround times?Absoultutley nothing.Think about it.if thay can hust change passengers instead of getting bags on board itll svae a huge amount.

Last year, after flying the Atlantic with my baggage carried free by United, I had to pay 70 quid to Ryanair for the same baggage to go from Stansted to Gothenburg! OK, it was a bit overweight, but in 9 years of commuting monthly between Nice and Gothenburg on scheduled airlines, never once was I penalised for my often overweight bags. Technical authors tend to carry a lot of books around!

Be fare! This is going to of benefit punters as well, I think it is great news. And I don’t think 7kilos was mean anyway, many airlines say 5kg for hand bags. You have got to bare in mind that faster turnarounds mean less delays, increased efficiency, lower fares. COOL! Cheaper Faster Better!

Its to encourage people to take their bags on the planes so as to reduce the time spent loading the holds with baggage, increasing turnaround time. Generosity my ass!
