S.B.O. at Stalag Luft 6

You are right about Luft 6 being an N.C.O. camp. Dixie Dean was indeed the prisoners “Man Of Confidence” and I was curious to know if he held that position in October 1943.

As I understand it, the British compounds at Heydekrug only held NCO’s. The senior NCO was James ‘Dixie’ Deans who was awarded the MBE after the war for his leadership both in the camp and during ‘The Long Marches’ of 1945.
