S300/S400 Radars?

Does anybody know which radar systems are used with which S300 systems?
I have read about the 96L6 whic is supposedly part of the S300PMU1 system and replaces all the other radars in that system, is this the case?
Then there is the tombstone radar, where does this fit in? what is its role on the Peter the Great cruiser? (if indeed it is the radar on that ship?)
which radars are to be used with the S400 system? I understand that the current S300 radars are compatible but are others under development?

That’s a stupid thing to say, in my opinion. The missiles used in the Gulf War were not PAC-3’s, and as such weren’t designed to counter the SCUD threat.

The Scuds certainly had the easier job. A few just need to get through to count as a terror weapon, whereas to be considered effective by those on the ground in the firing zone the Patriot pretty much had to hit everything coming in.

The result was the old technology with plenty of combat use did its job and the new thing had a few minor bugs to iron out. No surprise really.

techincally they were not as such but they were advertized in media at that time that they can do. but this is moot point.
he is more referring to the fact that they were not good for scuds at that time so the the newer versions may be not good for latest BM missiles.

President Musharraf also tried to establish the superiority of scud missiles over the patriots, saying the former performed better than the latter during the Gulf war.

couldnot find better place. 18 minute response time is too slow.

To a question if the US sale of patriot missiles to India would cause nuclear imbalance in the region, Musharraf said Pakistan had missiles, which were far more superior than those India was getting from the US. The patriot missile has 15 to 18 minutes response time while the one in possession of Pakistan took five minutes for the purpose, he argued. President Musharraf also tried to establish the superiority of scud missiles over the patriots, saying the former performed better than the latter during the Gulf war.

Probably because it’s the first ship to get the S-300FM. It’s probably used to test the system, so they didn’t bother replacing the other TOP DOME. Or maybe it can still use the S-300F missile?

Early S-300 (SA-10) systems use the FLAP LID guidance radar, TIN SHIELD or BIG BIRD acquisition radars, and the CLAM SHELL low-level acquisition radar.

Later S-300 (SA-20) systems use the TOMB STONE guidance radar, BIG BIRD and CLAM SHELL acquisition radars. The 96L6 replaces CLAM SHELL and BIG BIRD.

The Pyotr Veliky uses a navalised TOMB STONE in place of the forward TOP DOME, providing guidance commands for a navalised SA-20, the S-300FM.
