S50 Bucc might fly again

Hi

Looks like Thunder City are about to get permission to rebuild and fly the ex South African S50 Bucc that they have on static display.

Should they get permission it will be their next big rebuild after the 4th Lightning that will soon fly.

Also they want an F4-G but are after one thats still in flying condition to save on the rebuild work etc.

When I was their a fortnight ago, although it looked in good condition it was being used by some kids as a play thing! Loads of thrashing around with the control column and war game noises!

Well the South African Airforce are not at all happy about the fact that the S50 has been used for spares without permission and have requested that they put it back how it was.

Since this will involve a fair bit of work discussions have begun to allow a full rebuild to flying condition and it looks like they will get the permission.

Andrewman,

Where did you get this info from?
The last I heard was that the S.50 was acting as a Christmas Tree for the resident flyers and that much equipment and components had been removed.
The chances are that the S.50 had already life expired when it was retired from service, like to see Thunder City replace the main spars on that beast.
