SAA flypast!

I was expecting it!

Yesterday were the Cricket World Cup Finals at J’bourg….India Vs Australia (India lost 😡 ) and during the end of the first Innings over the stadium went in Echlon formation two A340 and a B744…….absolutely beautiful…and the formation was lead by the B744. 😀

And over the stadium they broke the formation B744 taking into a climb…and the 2 A340s turned left and right.

I have been at the Jersey airshow for the last couple of years in a row and every year Mytravel, the sponsers, bring down a 757 or A320 and fly along the beach area and do a bit of a performance with the Red Arrows. I think they did it with Concorde one year.

Nevertheless, I agree flypasts are not very common for big occasions. You would of though Qantas could of done it for the Olympics or Korean and JAL/ANA for the World Cup!
Maybe TAP will do an A340 flypast for Euro2004 😀

The only other example I remember is a BA Concorde leading the red arrows on a flypast down the Mall last year, for the Queen’s golden jubilee.

Yeah SAA are renowned for that. Its a terriffic site. I have the Flight for a nation video and it shows the rugby world cup along with the 3 747s flying over Pretoria as Nelson Mandela was annouced as the new President. It is a superb video.

There was also a flypast at the beginning of the event with an A340-600.

Yes it was spectacular…….these S.Africans know how to do things in style…..the SAAF did a flypast with fighters (Cheetahs i think) in opening ceremony…..they did with 3 B744 at the rugby world cup few years ago.

I will post pics as soon as i get my hands on them.

Not a cricket man myself, but I’ve have quite happily gone along to see something which I can only imagine as being spectacular!

Any photos available?
