SAA in emergency landing/World Cup Football?

http://news.iafrica.com/sa/2123760.htm

This is nothing spectacular, but for an airline the size of SAA the following statement seems rather odd :
“With one plane short, Maistry says passengers should expect delays.”

If their whole schedule is upset by one plane going out of service, how on earth are they going to cope with the world cup football?

True, but they have 54 planes in total of which 25 – 30 are probably on the domestic routes. I have had numerous delays with them throughout the years, they are well known for overbooking too, and then “bumping” passengers off. The second last time my kids and I flew with them, we were booked as a family, but my eldest kid ended up sitting in another row because they allocated the same seat number to another passenger who got on at the origin (we got on at the stopover point). The other passenger refused to move. Their booking system is horrendous so I suggest that anyone going to the World Cup to make very flexible arrangements.

“With one plane short, Maistry says passengers should expect delays.”

But it does follow onto say the following..

With one plane short, Maistry says passengers should expect delays.

“We anticipate an hour delay and South African Airways apologizes for any inconvenience to our customers,” she said.

Therefore, It appears that knock on flights today will only be affected, which any airline would be if an aircraft goes tech until backup arrives.
