Once again, I agree with what’s being said. When I first found this place at the end of last summer, it was a place where I could share my photos from airports with civvy enthusiasts, rather than Military ones like the folks at UKAR.
I’ve found myself posting less and less since abit before Christmas, and certainly this year, because the quailty has dropped to a point where there are an entire weeks worth of threads, and I have nothing to say in any of them. Unlike others – I won’t make a post for the sake of notching another one up on my tally.
Silly “favourite photographer” polls didn’t help the forum IMO, much like the relentless advertising, squabbling and stupid questions that keep being asked.
The rise in childish threads has, as stated above, led to a decrease in the quality of posts from regular members, and in some cases, stopped regulars posting very much at all.

The quality of the forum has decreased slightly over the last few months.
Just three very recent threads as an example. Take the thread “to Skylinerworld” for instance. What the hell is that doing here? As mentioned in the thread by me and some others, this should have been done by e-mail or through the forum’s PM service. That’s what it is there for!
Or the thread “Upgrade of the forum”. I was really interested in this thread as you all probably where as well. It turns out that 9 out of 27 posts are made by Airline Owner. I consider most, if not all, of these posts to be mindless dribble.
Another thread is the “New section!!” thread. A thread where a website is promoted. Well, alright I’ll accept that… but again it was flooded by useless remarks amongst others by, again, Airline Owner. There are 3 or 4 forummembers that are all on the same school. I get the distinct impression that they are using this forum to chat while in class. Can’t you find another forum to do so, or make one yourself?
Having said that, I still like this forum more than others like A.net of JP.net.

I think the best way of advertising your website, is the way Peter does it. Just leave it at the bottom of your signature, and that’s it. Don’t tell people to go there, or mention when it’s updated. If people want to go take a look, they will. You’ve never heard Peter once mention his pics, yet I’m sure people click on his links all the time to take a look. I for one could care less about number of posts, or user ratings, or any of that nonsense. I come in here to talk about aviation, look at member’s photos, learn something new, and perhaps provide some feedback once in a great while. I’ve had the tendency to disappear in the past for no good reason. Sometimes, I just get sick of the forum. I’ll be in the basement for 3 or 4 months, then come back strong. Maybe the MIA members are just doing that.

I kinda agree. I was thinking the same thing on last week-end.

downfall in quality threads is the main reason i dont post much now.

Agreed.
Been here since last october and I’ve noticed a dip in quality too.
Lets all set up a code of honour or something, not a rule book. Just a simple code, which we can all abide by. For instance, no advertising of websites…
Maybe Webbie could join in, and remove any posts that are blatantly advertising or get a majority vote of 2 or less stars.
something to skim off the bad stuff realy.

Yeah i agree with EGNM. Sad to say it, but its true, the content of whats been appearing on these forums as of late has been a bit childish and pretty much a waste of time. Alot of it i think is an attempt to bump up posting numbers, or just to cause plain misery to the more serious users of these forums. Over the past few months we have lost alot of regulars from this forum, mainly i think because of this. Seems this forum some of the time and the GD forum, are being turned into playgrounds.
There is too much website advertising!! Tell us about it once, and thats it… we know its there after that. Also too many squables going on too.
Sorry to be horrible about it, but its just the way i feel, and i know a fair few others who feel the same way.
Though with regards to saab, im not sure? He hasnt logged onto MSN in a long while either.

Sorry to have to say this, but over the last 12 months the forum has had more posts of the younger members advertising their websites or falling out with everyone etc, and the forums has just become a much worse quality than 12 months or so ago, and they have probably found somewhere else they prefer posting on!

Yeah, I was actually thinking about Saab 2000 when I was reading Bhoy’s flight report as he reported his flight on a Saab 2000. Another guy who’s been MIA is Monster500. Anyone know what happened to that guy?
