I have been trying to trace the former Norwegian AF Saab Safir trainers, and their fate after being sold off by the Air Force. One of these, c/n 91-335 was not sold in 1982 but given to SHAPE flying club (based in Belgium), and used by them until 1990. It was then released from military stocks and got civilian Swedish reg. SE-LAL to a Swede in Kings Lynn, UK. Later sold to a Company in Crewkerne, Somerset the CofA has now lapsed. Does anyone know if this plane actually calls the UK home, or what is the deal?

SE-LAL was ferried East Winch to Sweden on 20.12.92. It was fully registered 17.5.93. On 4.7.94 change of ownership (according to register) was made, new owner BEACONDATA LTD, with op A Gustafsson, Stockholm. I belive it is based at Bromma.

Not answering your specific question re SE-LAL, but related to the Norwegian Safirs the following may add to your information search.
The Newark Air Museum guide book lists the 91B version – 56321 at their museum as being “flown to the museum from Norway on 14th July 1982 by two serving Norwegian Air Force officers, Lt Stig Halvorsen and Lt Peter Reymert”.
The airframe is displayed inside and I understand that the airframe is on loan from Norway. It is also pictured on the top of the aircraft list page on their website.
