SAAF Avro Shackleton…….Two pics.

For the benefit of all Shackleton fans.
Here are two photos from a new (local) book I bought last week.
It consists of approx. 57 colour photos of no. 1722, the SAAF’s last airworthy Shack.

Cheers.

I was standing by to yawn, thinking same old Shack shots, but absolutely wow! Fantastic pictures and certainly a refreshingly new take on the Coastal beastie.

The 1722 DVD was first featured here http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=73755&highlight=1722 and has been available in the UK from http://www.thegrowler.org.uk/promotionsform.htm and http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/shop.htm since August 2007.

It includes as interview with one of Newark’s cockpit openers and former ‘Shackleton Captain’.

I don’t believe there are any plans to stock the book though.

Hi XM 692,

The book is available online at http://www.saairforce.co.za/the-airforce/aircraft/60/shackleton-mr-3 just click on shop.
I think you can try Midland counties Books as well…..

Due to limited run, no stock by MCP, but no matter, i’ve just ordered it (and the 1722 DVD) from the shop.

Great stuff, thanks http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t224/WN957/Emoticons/clap2.gif

If I had as many thousand pounds as hours spent (as a Met Man!) on the Shacking Great *********ton then I’d be a rich man!
Nice to see some pix of the Beast! Many happy(?) hours spent therein!
Never knew Griffons gave you High Tone Deafness – thought mine came from the Fantooms at Stanley!
If anybody replies then please put it in emboldened 16 pt text. I’ve got High Tone Deafness. Whassat you say?
