SAAF Liberator KH158 found off Greece ?

Dear All
Does anyone know in which UK national newspaper this article appeared ?
There is a short paragraph in the April Flypast magazine in Briefings, page 9.

I wonder about the article & from where the information came .The date given for the Lib’s mission is November 12th 1944 but this could be an error .

My RAAF father took part in a supply drop mission to Italian partisans in 31 SAAF Liberator KH158 -on 12th OCTOBER 1944.The flight path from Foggia was west to the coast then up over Elba to Liguria. Greece was in the wrong direction even if they had been blown off course. The weather was bad with high winds & poor ground visibility.Five Libs crashed but the wreckages were found .KH158 disappeared without trace.
An investigation into a plane seen in an Italian lake is in official process.

Regards
Anne

It was in The Times (but I am not sure which “Times”, thought it was from South Africa), December 3rd 2005. However, Greece wasn’t named in the article, but the aircraft in the Italian Lake was.

Hi Anne, Didn’t see the article and cannot find any trace of it. Why not ask Flypast where the story came from? The below links mention KH158, so good luck with your quest. 🙂
