SAAF Spitfire rebuild

Great to see in the latest Flypast that this Spitfire is going to be rebuilt. Does anyone know if this will be to airworthy or static as it doesn’t say in the article.

Just had a look on the SAAF museum sight and answered my own question. The Spitfire is being restored to airworthy.:)

Indeed, it could be one of two, but it isn’t a MkIV!

I only went by what was in the article, thanks for clarifying that Bruce

Mosquito: the article talks about B.IV DZ542 but the fuselage in the accompanying photo looks more like that of a fighter variant to me, given the “missing” sections of nose which are quite similar to the armament access doors on a FB.VI etc.

SAAF Spitfire: I too seem to remember it was being restored to static.

Andy the Mosquito is a B IV Bomber version DZ542. Re the Spitfire rebuild, that “book” is a couple of years old now and things may have changed since it was published.

A certain “book” states that the plan was to restore to static.
Unless things have changed, I’d go with that.
BTW, which Mosquito is MK959 referring to?

Thanks

Andy

Thanks Sopwith for asking as it’s indeed not clearly stated in the article.
On other note, great to see the news re the New Mossie at AvSpecs.
