Sabena Old Timers Lysander Mystery

In A******** M****** this month is a pictue of 2 Lysanders being restored by Sabena Old Timers. One is listed as the ex OO-SOT (“RCAF 2442”) That crashed in 2001 – This is being re-rebuilt to Fly – Actually it is Mk. IIIa V9546 (to RCAF as V9546) and major uses parts of 2442

The other one is a static for the Musee Royal de l’Armee, Brussels and is listed as “2219” – This gives me a problem

If it to is from Canada then RCAF 2219 was a Ventura and I can’t ‘make’ Lysander Construction Numbers fit 2219 either

The origins of this particular aircraft are a mystery – can anyone fill in the gap?

Many Thanks

Paul

At this rate we’ll soon be able to get enough Lizzies together for a special operations flight again. What’s that? The first time since 1945.

There is another Lysander in Belgium which might possibly be the ex Phillipe Dennis machine.

I remember asking in 2001….

How badly was it damaged ?

I remember that Mr. Cartillier of SOT was loking for engine parts for the Lizzy in Canada a couple of weeks prior to the accident.

I spoke to some SOT guys last year and theuy told me that this second Lysander was bought in Canada. I do not know if it was built there or served with RCAF for shure. But it did came from Canada to SOT.

Sorry for the little info, but maybe someone else knows more.

Greets,

Stieglitz
