On my way to Mendoza airport last week passed an a/c mounted on a plinth, not sure of type. Coming from bus station in town to airport, in taxi.
Forget the aircraft, try the wine!

Hi Mark
How much of the F86 was original and how much was replica and were the data plates and all serials matching – does it have a proper provinance or should it be scrapped and a new one built to replace it (Joke Mark – I couldn’t help myself – Small things amuse small minds )
Kindest regards
John P
PS won my first race in the Aston on Sunday – Classic saloons !!!! No truck category !!!

In fact it is “C-105”
anyone for Spanish ?
“Instalado como monumento en una plaza en las afueras de Mendoza (arg.) El aparato C-113 real ganΓ³ en 1962 un concurso de tiro en el que participaron EEUU, Peru y Chile, y que se llevo a cabo en “Las lajas” Mendoza, tal como puede leerse en la placa que lo enmarca. Del avion original solo se conservan pedazos sueltos.”

In Mendoza at the moment and heading North to Salta late tomorrow. Where was the Sabre? Also any other places to keep an eye out ( heading to Bolivia next)
Cheers

I cannot be exactly sure of the location.
I was on a bus travelling from Santiago, Chile, to Mendoza (Argentina) having crossed the Andes. As I flew on from Mendoza to Buenos Aires, the Sabre must be in the general city limits of Mendoza perhaps even on the way out to the airport. It was in a park area and I just grabbed the shot as it came into view. I seem to remember there might have been a rail track in the foreground.
Take your lap top and show your hotel reception or local police the image.
There is not much of aviation interest in Bolivia. If you fly into La Paz, I believe it is the highest commercial International airfield in the world at something around 13,000′. You will stagger for breath on leaving the aircraft. Walk slowly and drink plenty of ‘Coca’ tea. π The landing speeds at that altitude are ‘interesting’.

MikeJ,
Very short pilots and the ‘Hand of God’ and all that. π
Actually a 50 mm lens set on ‘automatic’ taken on the move from a bus.
