Sad News.

Manonthefence has just passed onto me the sad news that that great American airshow performer Jimmy Franklin was killed along with Bobby Younkin in a mid-air collision at Moose Jaw, Canada at the weekend.

For the Brits who haven’t seen the Franklin family act it consisted of a Waco biplane equippped with a jet engine doing aeros with son Kyle doing wing-walking at the same time.
It looked pretty extreme and I thought it was one of the best airshow acts I ever saw.

Kyle was not apparently involved as he was on the ground at the time.

My condolences to all concerned.

Sadly, the accident has claimed the lives of two of the great flying showmen of recent times. My condolences to all, they’ll be remembered for a long time.

Stunned !. Terrible news.

I watched the Masters of Disaster routine every day last year at my first trip to Oshkosh and have never, ever, seen such a fantastic display of airmanship.
Without doubt, Jimmy and his team stole the show for sheer spectacle !.

Oshkosh this year and the future shows will never be the same.

To quite possibly THE BEST SHOWMAN in the airshow world, RIP, and thanks for your guys displays…..truly irreplacable !
