Sad news – Jules Horowitz has passed away

Jules, B17 pilot and one time contributor here, died this August at the ripe old age of 93

I only found out sending him birthday wishes via Facebook this morning.

The ‘vet’s which we have been lucky enough to have join us here have been fascinating an inspirational in their contributions.

We still have a few, thankfully, and should cherish them.

That is indeed sad news, Moggy, but tempered by the thought of a long life well lived, which so many of his contemporaries were denied.

Although he served in Italy, I felt that he was a spiritual representative of the young men in B17s my father would watch going overhead – he particularly recalls counting 84 one dawn. We must be thankful he chose to share his experiences with us.

A long life he had, well done Sir, RIP.
I bet he is sitting down chewing the cud with the boys that were lost in missions 70 years ago.
