Saddam Hussein Sentenced to Death

Death by hanging apparently:

What repercussions will this have to Iraq though?

I fear this will lead to more violence

It probably will, but it could go the other way and deter many other “would be” Saddams from doing the same as he did (although I have my doubts as to whether this would be the case).

I think that if they are going to hang him, they should at least wait 20-30 years (for example) and let him suffer a bit before hand. I think that would serve as more of a deterrant.

Mark.

My 1000th post (again!!!!!!!!) 😀 😀 😀

I fear this will lead to more violence, Kind of wish they just give him life sentence instead, He is evil wil a capital “E” but hanging just is too quick in my view, A life sentence would be more fitting.

A much better punishment would be confinement for life….take away his freedom for the rest of his days ….The death sentance is a quick way out for him..let him suffer for the rest of his life for all the innocents he murdered.

Mind you if we were to lock up all the rest of the world leaders who contributed to this mess there would be a hell of lot of elections needed!!!

I want to know why it has taken them this long to decided what to do with him.

Still, at least now we know.

I agree. No fair and free country or person would be against the institution of an International War Crimes Tribunal. Probably only death merchants and killers like Mugabe and North Korea or countries with innocent blood on their hands and something to fear…. so we should make a list of these tyrannical despots and countries that are scared of this type of justice and punish them… :diablo:

exctly…form all sides…also It would be nice that the international warcrime tribunal could be get under UN juridiscition and will cover ALL soldiers and leaders commiting warcrimes and crimes against humanity, no matter how much or little that country pays for the UN…

but baby steps….and one step closer to the dream is better than no steps at all

Justice served at last. Hopefully all the mass murderers and people responsible for massacres of innocents of this decade will meet the same fate, tomorrow if not today.
