Sally B- Four Engines!

I just saw these shots on Duxford Update- Sally B has four engines once again. Scroll down to ‘Hangar 2’.

http://www.duxford-update.info/

Certainly fills me with Christmas cheer. After such a season of setbacks in 2008, I’d like to wish everyone on the Sally B team all the very best for the coming year.

I thought radial engines need the cowls on to aid cooling?

Funny they ran the engine with the cowlings off.

I wonder if it all went well?

Seems Sally B had first engine runs today. Great news, can’t wait to see her back in the air.

Looks like it was all hands to the pumps on Sally B.

Thanks for the Victor pic. Hope her restoration starts soon.

Yep….delighted, sent my donation in two weeks ago….I treat her as if she is a cousin, so she gets a £20 xmas pressie from her (young) uncle Tony!!!!

If we all gave £20 just imagine where she would be? Go on y’all you know itmakes sense

That is the best Christmas present for our UK friends! Well done!! Of note looks like the victors now back inside..

Yes the victor is apparently staying inside as is the shackleton with the exception of if they need to move airframes about, The staff at Duxford were very helpful yesterday.

Great news, but I hate the colour scheme. I prefer the silver lacquer finish like “Liberty Belle” how about the 92nd,306th or 303rd Bomb Group scheme when due repaint ?? If I had pots of money I would gladly finance it but I don’t.

I had a look at Sally B today at Duxford and she has indeed got all 4 engines fitted and has had a clean so she should 100% fit for next year.

According to the latest Sally B newsletter they plan to fit both the engines that failed last year and remove one of the older ones. That and all the usual winter servicing means they still have a lot to do. Can’t wait to see her back in the air next year.

Thank you for the link.

The Beaufighter is looking good too.

It looks like it is neck and neck with the Blenheim 😀

Phew! That’s especially welcome as every time I’ve passed Duxford of late it’s been raining, and she’s sat forlornly in the wet.

It will be grand to see her in the air again. Come on Elly, get the wind under her wings!

Seems the link doesn’t take you to the ‘latest visit’ page. Click the link in my first post and go to ‘ News and Links’. Sally B pics are in the Hangar Two section, and they have yesterday’s date. 🙂
