Have just seen Sally B return to and land at Duxford with the port inner shut down. Hopefully nothing more than just gremlins on air test.

My brother has some 8mm cine, he took of NX611 returning to Biggin on 3, after one of Neil Williams forays, complete with the old pre war? Dennis fire engine following along behind.

Seem to recall the Lancaster returning on 3 at a Coningsby show too.??…
I recall excessive rich smoke from one engine…and then a return on 3….long time ago…….

Certainly was… i thought for a minute my binoculars were deceiving me.
I can remember years ago Flypast printing a pic of the BBMF Lancaster coming back on three… it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
That was at RAF St Athan in (I think) 1983; I was there!

A fort coming in on 3 would be an evocative sight i’m sure…

Thank goodness she’s ok. Not everyday you see a WW2 bomber coming in on three engines.
I did also notice that the tailwheel was down as she did a circuit, while the mains were still up. I think usually they retract/lower in unison. Again something very minor no doubt.

Saw her there yesterday on an impromptu Duxford vist .

Propeller was feathered and couldn’t have been that much of a problem as it did a circuit of the airfield first before landing.
Thread drift. The HAC Nimrod arrived on the back of a lorry today.:D

Excellent! Hopefully she’s back where she belongs before long. 🙂
