Sally B song.

Have just received an e.mail from Ellie Sallingboe, with this link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0dBC6yPB4Y

Her plan appears to be to ‘modernise’ the tune and have someone like Michael Ball singing it, backed by a full orchestra!

A nice song, complimented with a good little video montage. Worth a look.

Rich.

Mushroom in the Wind?

Goodbye Enola Gay,
Though I never flew you at all,
You had the range to haul yourself,
And let that Fat Man fall…

I’ll get me coat… 😮

I think the “B” side of the single was
“That’s why they call it the Cruise” (missile)

I think it was covered by the B-52s.

…re-worked, re-sung and maybe re-lyric-ed, then it could be a nice little tune…any suggestions?

303rd BG colours sounds good to me!

With a bit of extra money available, I would think that ordering a replacement spare would be a sensible move.

“Sheer, unadulterated rubbish”

I wouldn’t necessarily go that far, lol. I have to admit the more I hear it the more it grows on me and if indeed Elly does get it re-worked, re-sung and maybe re-lyric-ed, then it could be a nice little tune.

I do agree though, it’s an incredibally cheesy tune, but then most tunes from 1982 were like that!

As for a change of markings…..any suggestions?

Back to the song…sheer unadulterated rubbish, one of, if not the most, awful things I have ever heard…apart from the Spice girls that is.

It would not take much to add some markings so it would not be a waste of money, would possibly generate more interest/income and get some new stickers etc with the new markings on.

How about a change in markings/bomb group

As she was only repainted last year would seem a waste of money now.

Not sure.

I always think that Sally-B home is in the UK and No where else I was sad when they got told SallyB will be the same as a 737 and feared that she might end up going to the US but this is fantastic news would this be spent on winter mainteance or next year airshow season?

Not sure – but I think mainly it’s for the next airshow season. At the annual awards ceremony at Duxford, the money had only recently been donated, and I think Elly was still in a state of understandable jubilation about it, so we’ll wait and see what the decision is towards spending the money!

Funds

A large sum of much needed cash has been donated recently from the sale of some land by a supporter who is a farmer, a substantial amount apparently.

oh dear….

As Meatloaf said, “you took the words right out of my mouth”.

It will need some work being done on it but if it raises funds, it can only be good for her.

Serious…

Well, the e.mail is a general one to lots of people, various other pilots/owners of warbirds etc and yes, Ellie does say that she’ll be working on the song over the winter, so it seems ‘legit’ at the moment!
