Sandown

Well we made the trip to Sandown today and the displays were excellent.
The participants included the BBMF with Lanc and 2 Spits (V and II), 3 P51Ds (BBD, Janie and JJ), and the TFC P47.
The Historic Aircraft Collection Hurricane and Spitfire also attended, as did the Fiat G46 from Booker(?).

Special mention must go to Mr John Romain, who put on one of the best Spitfire displays I have ever seen, in Spitfire XVI TD248.
Top job.
Lee Proudfoot did something special with MH434 as well.

…and on the way back we passed the QM2 and QE2 liners on their way out to their latest cruise.

Good day.

Love the shot of the Fiat taking off – pity they couldn’t have parked the trikes behind that bush though!

I would not mind trying to edit them out but they are part of the photo sadly,i am going to post a few more photos that give a view of what was a great day and the first Airshow i have done on my own.

Nice to see the G46 flying again. Its based at Sandown in the hangar next to the tower. I have not seen it fly since Booker in the early 80’s.

Stringbag: Are you sure the BBMF’s “Mark II”, as mentioned above, wasn’t, in fact, their clipped-wing Mark IX?
