Santa flight tracking site

Hi Folks,

Put this one on the Historical site because, I am sure Santa has got loads of
hours on his belt.
Some friends of ours children do not believe me when I tell them that one night a year (Christmas Eve, a USAF Base somewhere in the United States
puts on a web-site so that the kids throughout the World can track Santas
progress. Does anyone now the Web-site address for this ?.

Regards, JJ.

Not as good as the WB-50s from Burtonwood which used to drop local kids’ Santa letters “over the North Pole” while on daily weather flights. I suspect it was only just the other side of the Arctic Circle but it was a nice touch!

The Google earth download is linked to the NORAD site too – with GE and Noradsanta running it is possible to get an accurate fix on the rouge-attired fat fellah. GE updates every 20 seconds or so…:D

RAF Fylingdales is also helping in the tracking, and has a link to NORADSANTA on its website.

It’s nice to see that something as large as the U.S. Air Force still has a sense of humor.

Back in the pre-internet days, if I recall correctly, the USAF used to send short film clips of radar stations, radar scopes with “blips” & scrambling interceptors to local TV stations and they’d be shown in the late Christmas eve newscasts with the message that they’re watching for Santa.

Does anyone else in North America recall these?

Thanks for posting this. It should help keep my two occupied for a few hours and hopefully help pack them off to bed!

Seasons greetings!

Hi there PLYM-SW,

Thanks for pointing me in the right-direction with regard to the NORAD site
Two good things will come out of this, 1, I did not dream there was a site, and 2, it will keep a 4 year old very busy until bedtime.
I love happy endings.

Cheers and have a good Christamas and New year,

JJ.
