Attached a recently acquired snap of SARO Cutty Sark G-ABBC, anyone out there recognise the location?
‘BBC was operated by a couple of outfits based at Heston and Blackpool during the early 1930’s, before returning to the IOW in 1935.
Any info much appreciated, Ta Chumpy.

Just came across a couple of repro. postcards on eBay that show this aircraft at Ronaldsway on the Isle of Man, unfortunately no airfield buildings in the shot. Has anyone got photos of the airfield in the early ’30s to compare with Chumpy’s view?

SARO Cutty Sark location
Could this possibly have been Calshot at the time with its access to Southampton Water and the Solent if the hangars were rebuilt at a later date,
or possibly Lee on Solent ?

I agree gatwick unlikely. Some of the Gatwick original hangars were the double hangars, ie not separate, built for pre-war British Airways on a site south of the Beehive. They comprised two 150ft wide spans with eight doors apiece, by 100ft deep. Similar to the Air Travel hangar (near the railway), construction of each was a single Mansard Type truss over the (eight) doors, with two longitudinal trusses at third points spanning front-to-back carrying the roof.
These two look too small a span.
What about one of the seaplane slipway sites, not strictly airfields although hangars present?

I thought these are the original hangars at Gatwick but though similar, they are not.

I’m not sure of the location but those kinked hangar roofs are not the Heston hangars.
