From Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang:
SAS is considering buying small regional jets, despite the present financial situation where they are considering putting one fourth of their aircraft on the ground and laying off 300 pilots.
The danish newspaper Børsen confirms that SAS are considering buying 20 aircraft with a capacity of between 70 and 80 passangers. The factory would either be Bombardier og Embraer.
– SAS needs this type of aircraft for use on routes where the traffic is not great enough to support the use of medium-sized aircraft like the Boeing 737 says spokesman Trond Rasmussen.
Børsen states that SAS will use the new aircraft in traffic from 2005.
