Dutch Spotters Convention at Rotterdam Airport, the passenger terminal, 18 April 2009 10.00 – 16.00 hrs

Also see http://www.scramble.nl/dsc.htm

On Saturday 18 April 2009 Airnieuws Nederland and Dutch Aviation Society Scramble will organise an aviation fair again. This gathering of aviation enthusiasts first took place in 1996 and is known as the Dutch Spotters Convention (DSC). For years it has been the place in the Netherlands to trade, sell or exchange all kinds of aviation related collectables.

If you want to find propliner-, smokeliner- or warbird material on a Dutch aviation fair, this is the place to be!
The Aviodrome museum and the Neptune Association/Catalina are also present with a stand.
All tables have now been taken, there is a waiting list.

Like the previous years the aviation convention will be held in the passenger terminal of Rotterdam Airport. In the airport building dozens of booths will be put up with books, magazines, videos, DVDs/CDs, slides, photos, postcards, aircraft models and many other aviation related collectables.
Also other aviation societies and aviation companies will be present.

In addition – to be confirmed – FREE BUS TOURS over the apron and runway of the airport will be organised to show the visitor a view ‘behind the scenes’. Meanwhile the airport restaurant is an excellent location to relax from all the activities and socialise with friends and fellow enthusiasts, enjoying a cup of coffee and/or a sandwich.

Also Kammair will do some LOW-LEVEL sightseeing flights to Amsterdam Airport, flying along the tower and over the platforms with their Gippsland Airvan. Yes, they obtained special permission only a week ago
(because of http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/news/?id=30175 ),
so they are allowed to do as advertised! :p
See http://kammair.i-reserve.nl/index.php?&grp_id=5 for reservations
and
http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=40759 for what it looked like last year. Yes, it is that close to Amsterdam Air Traffic Control Tower!

So there is much to do for aviation enthusiasts and therefore Rotterdam Airport, Airnieuws Nederland and Dutch Aviation Society invite everyone to come to Rotterdam Airport on Saturday 18 April 2009!

Rotterdam Airport can be reached by highway/motorway A13. Visitors of the
convention will be offered FREE PARKING on parking lots P1 and P3 (long term parking). You can exchange your parking card for a free exit card at the Airnieuws booth.

This offer does not apply to other parking lots.

For driving directions see http://www.rotterdam-airport.nl .

The airport can be reached by bus 33 and 50 from Rotterdam Central Station. Travelling time is about 20-25 minutes. Bus 41 can be used to
reach the airport from Rotterdam-Noord train station. Both rides cost
three strips on your “strippenkaart”, no “OV-chipcard” necessary !
See

Admittance to the Dutch Spotters Convention is FREE! The convention is from 10.00 to 16.00 hours.

The sightseeing flight along Amsterdam Tower and low over the platforms departing at 10.00 can no longer be booked. The ones at 11.00 and 16.00 hrs are full!
The departure at 12.00 hrs is filling up fast.

Because for lack of time payment can no longer be done electronically, people who reserve a flight by
http://kammair.i-reserve.nl/index.php?&grp_id=5 now have to pay in cash at the Airnieuws-stand on the day itself.
“PIN-betalingen” are unfortunately not possible this Saturday.

Because of http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/news/?id=30175 this may very well be the last time general aviation sightseeing flights like these are allowed that low and close to Amsterdam Tower and the platforms/aprons! 🙁
