Dear friends !
Some report exists, in which Saudi Arabian SE-210 Caravelle jet liner is mentioned, registered as SA-DAE. It is strange, but no photos of this plane I manage to find.
Maybe, anybody have any images of this Saudi Caravelle ?
Hope on some help.
Regards,
Flyer.

You must be a youngster if you say the Saudi Register is HZ-XXX as back in the begining of time it was SA-XXX. Not much used but I have the following…
The grand total of 19 😛
Never knew there was an SA-xxx, you learn something new every day!

Hi Dave,
Agree with you on the SA- use. I have always assumed that the HZ- prefix has its origins in the Hijaz region of Saudi Arabia, basically the mountains along the Red Sea to the north of Jeddah. Hijaz could easily be phonetically transcribed as Hedjaz so your memory of an old photo could well be correct though I’ve not come across it before.

I believe the SA-xxx was only used for civil use for a short time around 1947/48 being superceded by HZ-xxx.
I believe the SA-R-xx were “Royal” aircraft. The use goes at least until the mid-70s.
Prior to WW2 – I have seen in the distant past somewhere photos of an aircraft in (IIRC) the 1920s marked as”HEDJAZ-xx”(xx= figures)..can anyone confirm this ?

Well, friends, we have a good discussion now.
So, SA-DAE Caravelle is mistake only…:(
But imagine, as this plane in the Saudi livery would be beautiful !
However, if it was truth – many photographers would make its pictures…
No – it is typo only.
Thank You all for the participation in this thread.

Chris,
You must be a youngster if you say the Saudi Register is HZ-XXX as back in the begining of time it was SA-XXX. Not much used but I have the following…
SA-AAA to AAE Bristol Freighter 21E
SA-R-1 C-47B
SA-R-2 & 3 C-47
SA-R-4 C-54E & Convair 340
SA-R-5 Beech D18S & Convair 340 & Heron 2
SA-R-6 Varsity T1 & DC-6B
SA-R-7 Comet 4C
Interestingly this same list also includes Caravelle III SA-DAE with c/n 56 but this was SE-DAE with SAS and HS-TGF with Thai so I think this is just a typo that has as usual been copied over and over around the web.
