You can pass on my details, T.O. I’ve corresponded with Mr Sall before regarding Waddington so he may have me on his list already.

Thanks,

I have been approached by the Airshow Organiser, Paul Sall about obtaining cockpit owner contact details. He is looking for people that would like to exhibit at the event. Please contact me if you would like to get in touch with him. You can either PM me with an email address, or email me if you already have my contact details.

I understand that it’s likely to be a similar arrangement to the old Waddington International Airshow.

Thanks for posting this, chevpol.

The length of my bucket list continues to grow shorter, not because I have managed to tick them off but because they have ceased functioning.

Let’s wish them well with finding a new location, perhaps with better access, Pheonix like.

do not expect the fire museum to be open, announced yesterday on their facebook page!

“It is with much regret that the Museum of RAF Firefighting located at RAF Scampton has been closed down today (21/11/16) until further notice. This is due to the MOD’s requirement at RAF Scampton to use the former offices within the Annex of Hangar 2 for the Scampton Airshow 2017 project. The dedicated team of Volunteers won’t give up on the prospect of creating another location for this popular visitor attraction for all its visitors and veterans.

All items currently on display will be catalogued, packed and then placed into storage awaiting a further decision on the possible relocation of the Museum. RAF Scampton will continue to provide us with secure storage which will enable the massive collection of artefacts to be kept together in order for us to plan for the future. Due to strict Health & Safety requirements it will be impossible for us to host any visitors to these facilities. The Museum phone line, website and all other social media will continue to function, and your support for these will be essential if we are to show that the Museum continues to be a viable asset for relocation/re-establishment.The Museum is very grateful to successive Station Commanders for allowing us to have a presence at RAF Scampton for the last 14 Years. Obviously the last 4.5 years have seen the Museum grow into an extremely popular tourist attraction; reaching No.5 of Things To do In Lincoln within the first year, and No.30 of 345 Things To do In Lincolnshire this year.

Please understand that the decision to close the Museum has not been taken lightly. We were always aware that we were guests of RAF Scampton and as such, service needs must always take priority. Please avoid doing anything that could affect the relationship that we have built with RAF Scampton by entering into any form of negative comment towards the station executives and the RAF/MOD as a whole.

We remain active members of Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire and the Fire Heritage Network UK, and we hope that liaisons with these organisations together with the support that we have received from within the county, nationwide and worldwide, will enable a solution to be found and that the Museum will soon be re-opened to the public at a location within Lincolnshire. If you know of a location suitable to house the collection, or you are a Museum interested in forming a partnership with us at your location, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
The dream will continue… watch this space, but above all, please continue to support us.

Are there any height (altitude) restrictions at Scampton? Wondering if we may actually get a full display from the Reds?

Re office, as with the museum I am only assuming they will be open especially as they are within an active base and normally only available by appointment.

I doubt that you need worry about it not coming off as these guys know how to run airshows based on my experience at RIAT.

Back in my youth when I visited Biggin Hill “at home days” these were always in September, Battle of Britain Day would be closest to the following weekend in this case.

re:

Presumably the Museum of RAF Firefighting and Scampton Heritage Centre will be open and will give an opportunity to see both of these without having to make special arrangements.

And Guy Gibsons office?

Additionally, and hopefully, HHA will have their area open – or at least showing off their wares – a nice big Sukhoi and an ex-Lufty Phantom (possibly two) as well as anything else they might have tucked away in their sheds.

I’m hopeful for an invite to take XV490 along as we did Waddo a couple of times, where it went down well.

What’s Scampton like as a venue? Plenty of history to see on the ground, the dog etc. or will most of the base be off limits?
I quite like the idea of an airshow at Scampton for the obvious Reds at Home and potential historic feel.

Received email today.

Very pleased to see RAFCT are organising the show. RIAT runs like a well oiled machine unlike Farnborough where the organisation was a total disaster.

Let’s wish them every success in this “new” airshow. (Yes I know it is replacing Waddington.)

I can’t understand the timing, right when the schools start again… at least the weather should be ok in September… is it the nearest to Battle of Britain day?

If Scampton was near Hull Look North would be full of info so dont expect anything from that extremely biased tv news programme

Well I hope they don’t do what they did for “project Propeller” and pull the plug on the event twelve days before the event!!!

I think he is referring to the fact that I won’t be a Waddington show. I suppose smaller than Waddington maybe, but we shall see.

Fingers crossed it works out
