I was drawn to Scarborough on Saturday, along with half of Yorkshire it seems, by the promise of 558 displaying over the sea.
The BBMF opened proceedings
The morning had been showery, and it was still a tad grey and murky during the Lancaster and 2 Spitfires’ flypasts. However the day started to brighten up. 558 was early, and our first glimpse of her was in the hold over Filey
We could tell when the power was applied for the run-in…
And the first pass gave a howl along the full length of the display line!
She flew a very nice display, much tighter than previous years I thought, though if this is going to be the norm for the season or whether it was just due to operating within the constraints of the bay I’m not sure. Either way, it was an excellent, tight routine against a varying backdrop of sea, cliffs, grey cloud, blue skies and bright sun!

Reverse shot of Benyboy up on the cliff!

The poor Tucano had to follow 558. It flew a great display though, and I very much like the 2014 display colour scheme

Late in the afternoon, the ‘local’ team in the form of the Leconfield-based Sea King was out to play

All in all a cracking day out, and in the aid of several very worthy causes too.

Not bad I suppose 🙂
