Yes that’s true it’s more for the normal tourist. The Aviation Mega store is one of the best!
Sorry Maikel for rambling on about the SPL that I used to visit, and what was there then. At my age you always assume that everyones as old as you and can remember the same things;)
I have bought many models by mail order from the Megastore, and the service is second to none. Maybe some day I’ll get to see it for real. Keep those fine images coming!

Thanks guys for the responses!
I was hoping for the fog to start a little later, but it came in quite early. Will try to make some more in the summer.

Cracking stuff, especially the night shots. Like the one looking across the airport to the tower and the building with the airport name on it.

The old world of wings store had been renamed now, but it still looks cool
And just outside the airport there is the Aviation Megastore, one of the largest of its kind in the world.
I’m not overly fond of the aviation store in the terminal. The old one was more enthousiast oriented, but the new one is more for tourists and kids.

That’s fantastic! I’m 19 now but I sure would have liked to do that once;)
The old world of wings store had been renamed now, but it still looks cool. There is even a part from a DC-9 Trans World Airlines and some parts (engine/gear) of an MD-11 or DC-10.

Some very atmospheric shots there Maikel. I used to visit SPL a lot when I was working for a handling company at STN. Back in the 80s, a group of us would ‘hitch’ a ride on Air UK F27s for a day at SPL (€6 return, who wouldn’t!). In the early visits we would visit what I think was called The Drugstore, which was somewhere near the railway station beneath the terminal. There we would pick up some model airliners not available in the UK at the time. In later times we visited the fantastic World of Wings store, which I hear has gone now. Couple that with lots of time on the observation deck, a beer or two, and a big box of Dutch chips. It doesn’t get much better than that:)

Nice and interesting composition on No.9, Maikel. This post really makes me realise how much I miss AMS!
