Flourishing red light district at Schiphol
The transit area at Schiphol is said to be a flourishing prostitute area. Polish prostitutes arrive with cheap flight tickets at Schiphol, and meet their customers in toilets or airside hotelrooms.
There are two hotels airside. During the day they offer low fares. The idea behind them is to offer transit passengers a place to take a quick nap or shower after a long and tiring flight. “But of course you can also take part in other activities” a Schiphol employee is quoted in the Telegraaf.
The prostitutes mostly aim for transit passengers, or passengers whose flight has been delayed a lot. Some of them fly back to Poland the same day! Apparantly sufficient profit is made to earn back the flight.
The Dutch hooker union “The red line” has no problem with the Polish competition: “as long as the women come voluntarily and are not the victims of human traffickers. Yes, prostitutes are resourcefull, they will always come up with something new”.
A spokesman of the Marechaussee (military police) said they had not received any complaints or crime reports. But this prostitution it is illegal so when we see it we will act on it.
