Schneider Trophy 1929 – seeking photos

Hi All,

Would anyone be able to help me locate photos of the following,

Supermarine Rolls-Royce S6 N248 fitted with float heel vanes, tried out just once during testing on 4th September 1929.

Gloster Napier GVI under construction in mid 1929

Gloster Napier GVI in late 1930 or early 1931 showing the modified air intakes, especially under the fuselage.

Savoia Marchetti SM65 at Calshot or Desenzano with a clear view of the underside of the floats (front view on launch trolleys, low angle?)

All a bit specific I’m afraid, hence my problem tracking them down in the usual archives.

Thanks

Hi Simon,

Yes indeed, I have the book on order. First hand accounts of the High Speed Flight are few and far between so this should be a much welcome addition.

Cheers

Schneider Trophy Photos

Hello SchneiderMan,
I have just seen your request of June 2009 for various photos relating to the Schneider Trophy contest. You may be interested to know that a new book is to be published within this month entitled ‘My Golden Flying Years’ which is the autobiography of Air Commodore D’Arcy Greig DFC AFC, which will contain many photographs from his personal photo album and not published before. It covers the period from him serving in the RFC up until his time with the High Speed Flight and the contest. For further details please PM me.
