I’m currently studying for University the safety and structural integrity of the First World War Schutte Lanz Airships as opposed to the Zeppelin designs. I know that when the SL11 was shot down, large quantities of wire used in the construction of the airship were sold off as souvenirs for the Red Cross – what was the wire used for in the construction of the airship, and what material and gauge was it made of?
Thanks, Rob
